Thank you to the Clayton Hotel (formerly the Clarion Hotel) for hosting us.

We would like to thank all of the presenters, just to mention a few:

Paul Collins from the SEC who gave a very interesting talk about Assessment for Leaving Cert and for the new Junior Cycle. Lots of useful information for our participants.

Mary-Elaine Tynan and Sinéad Tuohy from JCT for their very informative presentations on 2 aspects of the new Junior Cycle course.

Ana Sánchez Pérez from Colegio Delibes for her very entertaining and engaging talk on extracting the Socio Linguistic element in our classroom.

The presentations will be sent on to all attendees soon.

We would like to thank our exhibitors, CSS Valencia, Colegio Delibes, ID Languages, Instituto Cervantes, International Books, Learn foreign Language Skills, COGO travel, Yuris Study Cards, Euro Languages College and the Folens education team for their stands and the prizes they donated on the day. This event would not be the same without you all.

We would like to thank our committee members for the time and effort they volunteered to make the day what it was, especially our president Wilma Selvin and our vice-president Kay Macken.

Thank you to our teachmeet presenters for a fantastic group of presentations with lots of new ideas for our attendees to bring back into their classrooms. A great opportunity to see what others are getting up to in their classroom. Presentations and/or resources from the teachmeet will be shared with attendees shortly.

Finally a big thank you to all the teachers who bought a ticket to attend. The association is going from strength to strength and it is all because of you! Keep coming, giving us your feedback and ideas!

Esta casa apoya la independencia para Cataluña

Yet another debate has taken place with great success. Teams arrived from all over the country to once again battle it out for a place in Round 2 of our debating competition.

Ophelia made it difficult for some to get the practice in but overall our teams showed up and did the job they came to do. Congratulations to our winners on the night and the best speakers.

We would again like to encourage our participants to leave plenty of time to arrive to Castleknock College and to be mindful of the time penalty.

If you didn’t get a team in this year please apply for next year. This is a very popular event and it does a great job of improving student’s confidence in their spoken Spanish.

We look forward to seeing our debaters again in the finale of Round 1 with the motion “Creemos que los deberes deben estar prohibidos.” (We believe that homework should be banned.)

¡Hasta pronto!
